The presidents of the Anthropological Society of Nippon, the Japanese Archaeological Association, and the Japanese Society of Cultural Anthropology have issued the following joint statement regarding the recent increase in hate speech against the Ainu people. Dr. Momoko Sato (RIKEN) provided valuable advice in drafting this statement. (Dec 15, 2025)
